I’m so excited to share that I’ve been selected as one of CT’s emerging artist grant recipients as part of the 2019 Connecticut Artist Fellowship Program! All works created in 2019 will be created through this funding. I will post updates to new works on my instagram, @meghanmeyerhoff_artist.
The program is created by the Connecticut Arts Council of the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) with support from the Connecticut Office of the Arts, which also receives funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
I’m very excited to announce that I will be doing some traveling this fall! From October 4th until December 6th I will be backpacking through France and Italy, seeing as much art as possible and experiencing the cultures.
During that time, please visit my facebook page, instagram, or twitter to follow my progress! I will be sure to post as many photos as possible!
I participated in a group show of local artists yesterday at the Rockafeller Restaurant on the Virginia Beach oceanfront. While there wasn’t as much foot traffic as expected, I did get to meet an artist named Ed Obermeyer, who has been showing and selling his work for some time, is well traveled, and had many wonderful suggestions for where I can show my work and get it professionally framed and photographed.
One of his recommendations was that I approach the Richard Stravitz Gallery in Virginia Beach, as he has know Mr. Stravitz for a while and felt that my work is high end and would sell in his gallery. I called the gallery today and explained my referral, and now I have an appointment to show Mr. Stravitz my work! I am ecstatic, and hope that my meeting goes well tomorrow!
I am very excited to announce that I will be participating in a local art show, on Sunday July 28th, 2015, at Rockefellar’s in Virginia Beach, down by the ocean front! This is a group show and several other artists will be there. I hope to post with more info and photos as the date comes closer!
If anyone is interested in hearing more about it, please contact me.
I have been in Virginia Beach for about a week, and am trying to locate studio/storage space for all of my artwork/supplies! I am also preparing to work on my first commissioned work. There may be some delays in this process, as my mother broke her ankle this weekend and I have been helping her stay comfortable so she can get better.
Once I find a studio/storage space, I will post another update.
Yesterday was a very exciting day for my artistic career. I graduated from the Maine College of Art with my Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Painting!!! I am very excited to be embarking on my next chapter: moving to Virginia Beach and setting up my practice there.
These past four years at MECA have not only taught me the necessary skills to be a painter and artist, but also how to find my way into the art world. I know that my next endeavor will be to find a gallery or co-op in which to show my work and hopefully sell it. I will pursue grants and odd-jobs to support myself and fund my new studio practice.
Thank you to all of my supporters! Stay tuned for more news about my trip to VA and what my set-up will be once I get there!
